What We Do
about-brooklyn

About Town Kryer

We have taken in-house and under-one-roof and all-in-one, stirred them, baked them and created what we think is the best answer for a creative, PR, Digital and everything-you-need design shop. We believe in right size, not one size, fits all. We believe in sticking to the budget not blowing past it. We believe in being more than a resource but instead being an invaluable part of your team. Make sense?

Advertising

Things have changed a bit since Mad Men. But those changes are mostly for the better. (No one wants to smell cigarette smoke in the office, and though we sometimes wax nostalgic for the days of scotch sit-downs, Don Draper was, after all, an alcoholic.) At Town Kryer, we’ve gathered a cadre of the best and the brightest ad men and women – creatives from top-notch firms in New York and San Francisco. From stunning campaigns for our hospitality clients, to the next big thing in home building, our creatives excel at working on diverse categories.

Public Relations

PR? Is that even done anymore? We get that question a bunch and the fact is, now more than ever, with the continued shifting sands of the media, PR is a critical component to your communications line-up. Yea, sure, it’s about writing a press release (sort of). But it is really about crafting stories that people really want to hear – about you, your brand and what you are up to and nurturing relationships with people that matter to your business, from politicians to vloggers. It’s also about protecting your brand and your reputation whether from a negative press report or a sour Yelp review, PR is in just about every aspect of our daily lives.

Digital

Remember when Digital was the wave of the future? Well, the future is now. Everyone is looking for you online. They want to know who you are and how you work. They want to know if what you have is better than your competition and guess what – they want to be able to research that question on their cell. Luckily for you, telling your story online in multiple formats is something we are really, really good at. From responsive website design to push notifications and targeted ads on Pandora, we have it covered.

Social Media

While it means different things to different people, the one thing that we know for sure is that social media has spawned revolutions, made the world smaller and basically, changed everything everywhere. We are passionate about creating a social media presence that transcends simply posting photos and videos. Our goal is to create fan engagement, real interaction and excitement. How your ad campaign and PR efforts blend to make your social media denizens stand up and take notice makes all the difference. It’s what separates Company X, which dutifully posts and tweets x times a week, from Company #@ that people are so jazzed about that they become your brand advocates.

Design

At the heart of what we do is design. Everything from your brand to your web presence hinges on properly executed design. At Town Kryer, we have assembled six very talented graphic designers who wake up every day with the same mission: create lasting design for our clients. So whether you are embarking on a whole ne brand refresh or simply needing to take your venerable design to the next level for a new application, we have your covered.

Marcus Young

Marcus Young

Creative Director/Co-Founder

Marcus has been helping clients tell their stories in a compelling way for almost two decades. He started in the communications arena working with such notables as AT&T, Jaguar, Land Rover, and today has a resume that includes PR and brand management for Chevron, Waste Management, Mirant Americas, Toll Brothers, Shea Homes, Lennar, KB Homes and many more. Marcus managed the San Francisco ballot initiative that created the first chartered Small Business Commission in the country.

Considered a crisis and communications expert, Marcus is often called in when the chips are down and tough calls need to be made. He has media trained dozens of corporate officers from CEO’s to corporate communications staff. He has also acted as the spokesperson for a number of clients dealing with issues from labor relations to product recalls, and is considered a media relations expert.

As Commodore of the Golden Gate Yacht Club, he helped secure the America’s Cup for his Club and has been central to bringing the event to San Francisco in 2013.

Sarah Krupp

Sarah Krupp

Co-Founder, Director of Media Relations

A former journalist for newspapers and digital media, Sarah knows how to unearth a good story and how to pitch it. She does not believe in sending out form emails to hundreds of media targets. Rather, she does careful research on media targets and crafts each pitch individually to the journalist and publication. This approach works. It has helped her cultivate relationships with traditional and social media influencers and continually garner coverage for Town Kryer clients on everything from Dr. Oz and Oprah to local media outlets including EaterSF, The San Francisco Chronicle, 7×7 and Dining Around.

While she prefers pitching happy stories, her experience in journalism also gives her an insider’s understanding to crisis communications. She knows just how to turn the tide of a negative story.

Her love of storytelling doesn’t stop at the pitch. She oversees Town Kryer’s social media team and loves the challenge of telling compelling stories cleverly while using very few words. Addicted to the instant gratification (or occasional disappointment), she monitors client social media channels obsessively, always ready to tweak content and strategy.

She and Marcus, write the Town Kryer blog, in which they blather about topics irrelevant to their profession, but very important to the common citizen such as yoga pants (ok in the office?), metrosexuals (passé?) and sugar (how can something so good be so bad?).
